The weather is shifting (I hope it sticks!) and in the morning I am starting to feel the beginning of cooler days! What this means for my family is more trips to local parks and trying out some new playgrounds. Our first visit was to Bee Cave Central Park, which is a large park that includes two playgrounds (both have shade covers!), a dog park, a long paved walking trail, and two covered picnic areas. There is also a basketball court, a large grassy field and plenty of parking.
The playground that you see on the left when you first drive in has multiple climbing structures as well as bucket and standard swings. There is also a small play structure which is more for the younger kids with small slides and a little climbing wall. This playground area is definitely the most popular between the two at the park as we often see multiple groups of kids when we go to play. A nice amenity at this park is there is a large covered picnic area right next to the playground with tables and bathrooms! You can let the kids run around and play and then bring lunch and have a shaded area to eat and relax.
As a bonus, right now on Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. the Bee Cave Public Library is hosting story time in this picnic area which is a lot of fun. They read books, sing songs, and dance. Children of all ages are welcome to this story time, however in my opinion it is geared more to the 1 to 4 age range. If you would like details on that check out the library website at: https://www.beecavetexas.gov/city-government/library/programs-services-children.

Next to this playground there is a basketball court and a large field. I often see groups of kids or grown ups playing sports on these fields and there is plenty of space to go around. One of my favorite things about this park is the long paved walking path that goes around the entire park. I have taken my two year old in his stroller on this path many times and it is good exercise for me and he enjoys looking at everything while he eats his snack.
After we do our stroller ride around the park we go over to the second playground which in my opinion caters more to younger children. This playground has multiple small slides and a tunnel to climb through which is my two year old’s favorite. Also, for families with dogs there is a dog park just beyond this playground to let your pups run around. We do not have a dog ourselves so I can’t speak to the quality of the dog park (compared to others), but it is nice there is a playground for the four-legged children as well.

I will be checking out many more parks now that the weather is getting a little cooler, but I definitely recommend a visit to Bee Cave Central Park. It has everything my family needs for a successful park visit, and one of our favorite perks is there is a Chick-fil-A right down the road where we often grab lunch on our way home. I hope you all get the opportunity to check out some local parks and enjoy the many great outdoor activities Austin has to offer!
