Hi everyone my name is Lindsey and I am so excited that you have come to check out my Lone Star Family Fun Blog. I hope that you will find a lot of useful information for your family activities.
I would like to give a little background as to why I started this site. First and foremost I am the mom of two wonderful, energetic, funny, and loving boys. In what I like to call my “previous life” my career was in recruiting, but I have been a stay at home mom now for 8 years. Switching from my career driven life to a full time mom role was quite a change for me. One thing I always enjoyed doing from day one was taking my kids to visit fun and interesting places. We love to visit local parks, museums, zoos, and everywhere in between. I always relied on reviews and opinions from other parents.
My family moved to Austin in 2020 which as we all know was one of the toughest and most unusual years because of the pandemic. When we arrived in Austin we were not only new to everything in the area, but we also had to determine as a family what we felt safe doing. This is when I came up with this idea to start a blog of information about places to go around Austin as well as across Texas. Every family has to determine what they feel safe doing and what their children will enjoy the most, and my hope is having a review from a first hand experience will help with that research.
My family has primarily been doing outdoor activities for the past year and a half and we have tried our best to avoid crowds. We have a 2 year old who wants to walk around and explore (but is still learning how to stay close to mom and dad) and an 8 year old who is interested in older kid activities. Figuring out what works best for us can be a bit of a juggling show which is why we are always looking for activities they will both enjoy. What may be a good place to visit for my family may not work for yours, so please use this information as a starting point when planning what activities you would like to take part in and then decide what works best for you. With the pandemic constantly changing and with businesses modifying their sanitation and safety activities often I do recommend always checking their website as well to get the most up to date information.
